can’t blog
for the meantime, here’s something treacly for you:

Took the spanking new MRT from Cubao’s Farmers Market to Katipunan and I must say it was truly world class; our country is finally on its way to progress in terms of public transportation. Sana ma-maintain ng tuluyan.
Even the North Expressway has been improved; there are more and wider lanes now and automatic toll gates to be utilized soon; and in the offing, decent toilet and shower facilities for motorists.
Malpositioned oversized billboards were annoying and they constantly assaulted my vision. I had had just about enough of local celebrities’ blown-up faces hanging in every available spot of all of EDSA. I mean, don’t they make laws on sight pollution as well because it’s equally debilitating, physically and psychologically (most are truly done in bad taste and just so un-classy and so very thirdworld).
People, especially the young, are so obsessed with fair complexion that advertisers have become utterly confrontational to come up with slogans such as “gumamit ng Silka kutis puti kutis mayaman ka” (dapat rebolusyon ang isagot sa mga ganito!). Heck, even my 10 year-old niece is affected by this kutis puti/kutis mayaman crap that those toxic advertisers are brainwashing people with.
During interviews, talks, and hollow discussions on TV, most showbiz people begin their statement/answer with the expression “in fairness” even though it’s not appropriate to use. (’bat kaya?)
A so-called diva cum movie/TV personality has said, “Ay ayoko nga mag-pagawa ng ilong baka di ako makakanta ng maayos at maapektuhan/masira ang birit ko”, when obyus naman na ilan beses na siyang nagpa-michael jackson ng nozz ‘no! (may gumawa rin ng kanyang ‘before’ and ‘after’ face at inilagay sa internet) at sobrang kaputian niya ngayon compared before daw. (this I had no way of really knowing because when I left the country she was just an upstart and/or not yet very known at di ako nanonood ng TV noong college dahil wala akong TV), siguro sobra mag-SILKA.
Even a kornik street vendor owns a nifty cellfone. I ate suman malagkit and ripe mangoes every single day. The santol tree outside my bedroom window is still there, I used to talk to it and it knows all my secrets. I talked to it again and it made me happy. I went to see an opthalmologist for a general check-up; glad to know that no sign of glaucoma, cataract, or any abnormalities in my eyes. “Healthy eyes”, he said; though I can’t really function without my high prescriptioned eyeglasses.
Bunso couldn’t come home but we spoke over the phone at naayos na ang mga pasaway (this word ‘pasaway’ is new meaning ‘bratty’ or ‘being difficult’).
Walked around UP academic oval and nostalgia striked me one more time. It felt good. Ikot jeep is now 5 pesos (or 10 yata?).
I got an excess baggage of 20 kilos, mostly Philippine Literature books, books on Abu Sayyaf and kidnappings and insurgencies in Mindanao, jars of matamis sa bao, guava jelly, bagoong, sukang paombong, cheez curls, halaya ube, pili marzipan, and bottles of calamansi puree, at marami pang iba.
I also went to Fundacion Flamenco in Makati to buy Flamenco skirts and shoes (really cheap compared to buying it here in Japan). Belly dancing is also uso in the Philippines nowadays.
I guess I’ve been into an excessive reading of Malthus lately; it’s my little way of making sense of what happened last Dec. 26. I can’t blame Bush, I can’t blame Elvis, nor can I blame any greedy politician. So I surmised, Gaia or Mother Earth, perhaps, is trying to lessen her very heavy burden; baka medyo di nya na nakakayanan ang bigat and she wants to streamline her load. But why those people, why not me or the village where I and my loved ones and friends live? I guess She has a schedule and a list to follow too given to her by the supreme God of Gods who is the one giving her orders of which to take first and which to let go for later. How I wish it was this simple. Sorry, I - mumbling again.
